Join us for the first race of the 2020 RunAbout Race Series. It is the 35th year of the Blacksburg Classic 10 Miler and 5K! The 10 miler and 5K races begin at 1pm at Margaret Beeks Elementary School in Blacksburg. A one-mile fun run will also take place at 12:30pm…fun for the whole family! There is also a fastest married couple contest in the 10 Mile race and best constume with a Valentine's Day theme. All 10 Milers also receive a finisher medal. Schedule: 2/08 - Packet Pick-Up @ RunAbout Sports in Blacksburg 4pm-8pm (2/08) 2/09 - Packet Pick-Up @ Race 10am - 12:30pm (Margaret Beeks Elementary School) Fun Run Start - 12:30pm Constume contest judging at 12:45 inside school gym - where packet pickup/ registration take place. 10 Mile & 5k Start - 1:00pm 5k Awards - 2:15 (Approx.) 10 Miler Awards - 3pm (Approx.) Race website: http://blacksburgstriders.com/classic.html Cost: 1 Mile Fun Run - free 5K: $23.00 before 1/28. $25.00 1/28 to 2/8. $30 on race day 10 Miler: $35.00 before 1/28. $40.00 1/28 to 2/8. $45.00 on race day Awards : 10 mile and 5K : Overall: Top 3 male and female finishers will receive an award. The first male and female masters (40+) and grand masters (50+) will receive an award. Age-group: Awards three deep, male and female, in the following categories: 8 & under (5K only), 9–12 (5K only), 13–17 (5K only) 17 & under (10-mile only); 18–23, 24–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69,70+ All 10-Mile Finishers will receive a finishers medal! Runners are eligible for one award, which will be determined in the following order of priority: overall, masters, grand masters, age group. Awards will not be mailed. Course: The 10-mile and 5K are rolling courses through Blacksburg, near the Virginia Tech campus, on roads and paved footpaths. All miles will be marked. Water will be available on both courses. Course descriptions will be available at http://blacksburgstriders.com/classic.html Post-Race : Free food and beverages for runners after the race at race headquarters. Awards ceremony and drawings for door prizes will follow as soon as possible after each race. Results: Preliminary results will be posted at www.runaboutsports.com after the race followed by the final results and age group results. Restrooms: Available at race headquarters (no showers).
